Best Way To Store Apples

Apples should be refrigerated loose in the crisper or in a bag with holes, away from other fruits and vegetables. Apples produce ethylene gas which can cause other produce to ripen faster and decompose. Apples stored properly in the refrigerator can last 6-8 weeks, while apples at room temperature will only last up to two weeks. This is because the enzymes in the apple are more active and cause the fruit to ripen up to 10 times faster at room temperature.
